Community research

Working with public spaces

Nenúrio Circus works where people already gather. Our research into street clowning and alternative spaces shapes how we build workshops, productions and community projects across Brazil.

Across public cultural programmes and social funding partnerships, we develop initiatives that bring circus skills into neighbourhoods and libraries, and we manage each production with public sector partners.

Selected initiatives

Practice in the neighbourhood

Youth, skills and shared space

Our workshops bring circus techniques to neighbourhood youth, passing on practical skills while the participants shape how public space is used.

The method is participatory: we begin with the place and its people, then build the work together.
