Our origins
Research on the street, begun in 2017
Nenúrio Circus is a Brazilian circus company founded in 2019 by Calini Detoni. Its work grows from a research focus on street clowning and alternative spaces, approached through circus techniques.
The creation process for “Biruta, Nua e Crua” began in 2017 as foundational physical research. That early work set the company’s habit of testing performance against the places and people it meets.
Flight Plan No. 1
Seven states, one road
In 2019, the tour “Flight Plan No. 1” visited seven Brazilian states. It carried two productions: “Biruta, Nua e Crua” and “Poetic Workshop for Clowns”, presented in whatever space each town could offer.

Festivals and libraries
From festival stages to library floors
In 2020, the company was part of the programming of national and São Paulo state festivals. Through the “Kombi Troupes” project, it presented its shows in libraries on the outskirts of São Paulo city.
